Baghdad, 29 May – As the fighting intensifies in west Mosul, humanitarian partners in Iraq have pre-positioned lifesaving packages of assistance containing food, water and other assistance in key areas in preparation for a surge in the number of people fleeing the violence.

Baghdad, 29 May 2017 - The Government of Japan has extended its support to the World Health Organization in March this year with a donation of over US$ 1 million to implement a project to provide integrated lifesaving services in IDP and Syrian refugee camps in the hosting governorates of Ninewa, Erbil and Duhok.

Erbil, Iraq, 29 May 2017 - UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, along with shelter and camp management partners, are working flat out to receive Mosul displaced in camps and provide emergency shelter and assistance in and around Mosul to people unable to move from the city, fleeing from or returning to eastern Mosul.

Erbil, Iraq, 23 May 2017 - UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, has opened another camp in response to a recent surge in the number of newly-displaced Iraqis fleeing the military offensive in western Mosul. An estimated 40,000 people fled areas of north-west Mosul and the Old City over a four-day period late last week.

Baghdad, 23 May 2017 – More than 1900 health workers and volunteers on Sunday 21 May, 2017 kick started a mass polio vaccination campaign targeting approximately 332 000 children from conflict affected Mosul and other underserved areas in Ninewa Governorate.

Erbil, Iraq, 9 May 2017 - UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, has opened a new camp, Hasansham U2, to house thousands of newly-displaced Iraqis who continue to flee the military offensive in western Mosul. The first busloads with packed with around 150 people began arriving at the camp earlier today.

Iraq - As the Mosul operation continues and aid agencies expect thousands more people to flee clashes in Iraq’s Ninewa governorate, a recent study conducted by IOM Iraq Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) takes a comprehensive look at displacement and return across the country.

Iraq, 28 March 2017 - Since 25 February, when people from West Mosul first began to flee, the IOM Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has tracked a total of 27,634 families (165,744 individuals) in their location of displacement.
