Inauguration of a Joint UN / High Committee on IDPs Coordination and Monitoring Center

Baghdad 17 December 2014 – The Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (DSRSG) and Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, Dr. Jacqueline Badcock and Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the High Committee on IDPs, Dr. Saleh Al-Mutlaq today inaugurated the Joint Coordination and Monitoring Center (JCMC), a newly created and dedicated entity that will strengthen a coordinated response to the humanitarian crisis, within the Government and between the Government and the United Nations and its partners. 

 

“I am very pleased that the High Committee agreed to the establishment of this Joint Coordination and Monitoring Center which will enable the United Nations to provide technical assistance to the Government of Iraq on priority planning and operational issues as well as on critical required actions in order to provide the most efficient, effective and coherent response to the current humanitarian crisis”, said Dr. Jaqueline Badcock at the inauguration ceremony.
