Erbil, Iraq 26 January - With no let-up to the war in Syria, UN, humanitarian and development agencies in Iraq have appealed for $298 m in ongoing assistance for nearly 250,000 Syrian refugees in Iraq.

Baghdad, 19 January 2016–The Kingdom of Norway has contributed an additional US$2.8 million to UNDP’s Funding Facility for Immediate Stabilization (FFIS), which finances fast-track initiatives in areas liberated from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). This is the second contribution from the Kingdom of Norway in recent months, and will be dedicated to restoring livelihoods for people returning home.

Baghdad, 24 December 2015– The Kingdom of Denmark has signed a US$3.3 million contribution agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support participatory and accountable governance, security sector reform and stabilization projects in Iraq. Denmark’s generous contribution will be earmarked for three projects: Strengthening Participatory and Accountable Governance, Support to Security Sector Reform Phase II, and the Funding Facility for Immediate Stabilization. These three initiatives are part of UNDP’s support for Government efforts to build a more secure, prosperous and democratic Iraq.

Baghdad, 23 December 2015–The Italian Republic has contributed US$2.72 million (2.5 million euros) to UNDP’s Funding Facility for Immediate Stabilization (FFIS), which channels fast-track support to help rehabilitate civic infrastructure, kick-start local economies, boost government capacity and promote community reconciliation in Iraq. This agreement formalizes part of a larger $7.63 million (7 million euros) pledge that Italy has made in support of stabilization activities, which have recently been expanded in the Governorates of Salah al-Din, Diyala, Ninewah and Anbar.

Baghdad, 22 December 2015– The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the German Development Bank (KfW) signed financing agreements for contributions totaling US$33 million from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to support stabilization in newly liberated areas and resilience programmes across Iraq.

Iraq - As winter temperatures set in across Iraq, IOM is distributing fuel for use in kerosene heaters to vulnerable refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities. These people, many of whom are facing long-term or multiple displacements and hardship, are often unable to afford the fuel needed to keep themselves warm.
