(Geneva, 7 December 2015): More than 125 million people in the world need humanitarian assistance. Through collective and coordinated action, aid organisations aim to bring urgent help to more than 87.6 million of the most vulnerable and marginalized of them in 2016. This will require a record US$20.1 billion in funding – five times the amount a decade ago.

BAGHDAD 26 November 2015 - The humanitarian situation of Iraqis displaced in the Kurdistan region of Iraq is worsening due to limited access to jobs and economic opportunities, according to an assessment conducted by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), The Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the REACH Initiative which fights child hunger and undernutrition.

Baghdad, 24 August 2015 - A national hotline for Iraqi citizens affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis has been launched to provide timely information on humanitarian services such as food distribution points, medical services, and shelter options across Iraq.

(Baghdad, 28 July 2015): The Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, Ms. Lise Grande today welcomed a contribution of US$10 million from the Government of Japan for life-saving and stabilisation activities in Iraq. “We are so grateful for this contribution. Just yesterday, we announced that humanitarian organizations have been forced to close 184 frontline health facilities. Japan's generosity will help us to keep many programmes open for the next several months", Ms. Grande said.

BAGHDAD – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is assisting Iraqi families returning to their homes in Garma city in Anbar province, providing over 185 families (925 people) with family food parcels to help them as they rebuild their shattered lives.
