BAGHDAD, 29 October 2014 –The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has deployed a ten-person emergency team of telecommunications and logistics experts in Iraq to ensure humanitarian partners are equipped with the means to provide rapid delivery of aid to people in need.

BAGHDAD – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has provided urgently needed food assistance to more than one million people across Iraq who were displaced since conflict erupted in mid-June, despite a challenging security situation and the continuous movement of people.

Baghdad, 14 September 2014 - After concluding a three-day visit to Iraq, UN Humanitarian Chief Valerie Amos said today that additional support is needed ahead of the long winter months for people who have been displaced by fighting, and for the communities supporting them.

Dohuk, 4 September 2014 – In an effort to increase the safety of vulnerable displaced families in Iraq, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) began distribution of solar-powered lamps and mobile phone charging kits in collaboration with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. 

Erbil, 2 September, 2014 – In response to a break in the two-month long siege of Amerli, UNICEF has delivered 45 metric tonnes of life-saving supplies for the estimated 3,000 children, women and their families who have been trapped in dire conditions.

Erbil, 19 August, 2014 – In response to the continuing humanitarian crisis in Iraq, UNICEF and the Governorate of Dahuk have signed a USD $5 million dollar agreement supporting one-time direct cash assistance to vulnerable, displaced families in the Governorate. 

ERBIL, 31 July 2014 – The United Nations has expressed concern over rising levels of violence and instability across Iraq and its impact on the lives of everyday citizens. 

Erbil, 24 July 2014 – UNICEF, in coordination with federal and regional authorities, today operated the first ever airlift of humanitarian aid from Europe to Sulimaniyeh, Iraq.

Baghdad, 27 April 2014 – In a concerted effort between the UN Country Team, its implementing partners and Iraqi authorities, humanitarian assistance was delivered today to the population affected by the floods in Abu-Ghraib district.
