Erbil, 26 September 2019: The World Health Organization (WHO) in partnership with the Ministry of Health in Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I) today celebrated the opening of the Paediatric intensive care and Neonatal Gastroenterology and the Semi-Intensive Care Unit in Raparin Paediatric Hospital in Erbil, KR-I.

On 22 September 2019, Dr. Salah El Hajj Hassan, Representative to Iraq of the Food and Agriculture (FAO) Organization of the United Nations accompanied by FAO team and MOA delegation, met in with Mr. Mansour al-Mareed, Nineveh Governor at his office.

BAGHDAD – The German Government has provided the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Iraq with €17.5 million to address the food needs of Syrian refugees and to support returnees and vulnerable communities. Germany is currently the top donor to WFP’s programme in Iraq and has, for the past four years, consistently ranked among WFP Iraq’s top two donors.

22 September 2019 – The provision of health services for approximately 250 000 Syrian refugees in Iraq remains a major challenge for the local health authorities, the World Health Organization (WHO), and humanitarian responders in Iraq.

To that end, the Swedish government and the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), in collaboration with UNFPA, have launched an initiative to train exceptional young men and women of Iraq on the principles of inclusive dialogue in peacebuilding.
