Kuwait- The World Bank Group and the Government of Iraq signed two projects today totaling US$510 million to help the Iraqi people by improving living conditions, enhancing water supplies, and creating jobs. The two projects along with the ongoing US$750 million Emergency Operation for Development program and other planned commitments, will increase the World Bank’s total commitment to Iraq to US$4.7 billion, compared to US$600 million four years ago.

I am delighted to be here with you today to discuss the reconstruction of Iraq, a country that has suffered so much and that has so much to contribute to the world.

Kuwait City/Baghdad/New York (14 February 2018) – UN Secretary-General António Guterres launched the Iraq Recovery and Resilience Programme today at the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq. The two-year Recovery and Resilience Programme is designed to fast-track the social dimensions of reconstruction and help ensure that people see tangible improvements in their daily lives at the start of the reconstruction process, rather than waiting years to benefit from large-scale infrastructure projects and structural reforms.

Baghdad, Iraq, 12 February 2018 --- In the lead-up to the Kuwait International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq, the World Health Organization (WHO) calls on the international community to further invest in Iraq’s devastated health sector.

Baghdad, Iraq - 12 February 2018: “For UNHCR, the Kuwait conference offers a key forum to reiterate the importance of voluntary, safe and sustainable return of Iraqi IDPs and raise resources to support the government’s efforts towards this goal. $1.5 million will fund FAO project assisting families to grow food to eat and sell

Erbil, Iraq, 11 February 2018 – On 31st of January, the Humanitarian Community in Iraq launched the Real-Time Accountability Partnership (RTAP), a multi-agency initiative for addressing gender-based violence (GBV) in emergencies. The RTAP aims at institutionalizing actions to address and prioritize GBV across the humanitarian response.
