In the lead to the October 2021 Iraqi elections, the Deputy Special Representative for Iraq of the United Nations Secretary-General, for Political Affairs and Electoral Assistance, Ms. Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir, visited Mosul where she met with the Governor of Ninewa, Mr. Najm Al-Jubouri, the Mayor of Mosul, Mr. Zuhair al-Araji, and with representatives of civil society of Ninewa.
