UNAMI Human Rights Office visit to Fallujah, Anbar Governorate

Fallujah, Iraq, 26 March 2019 - Civil society activists, community and tribal leaders, representatives from the Iraqi Human Rights Commission (IHCHR), journalists and media representatives, and government officials today convened a joint discussion with the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) Human Rights Office, at the Mayor's office in Fallujah, Anbar Governorate.

The group engaged in in-depth discussions on human rights concerns including enforced disappearances, persons disabled through conflict, and women's and girls’ issues including child marriage.

The UNAMI Human Rights Office screened short films highlighting issues of minorities and human rights to frame the discussion on human rights in Anbar.
