DSRSG and Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq Marta Ruedas visit to Sulaymaniyah

Sulaymania, Kurdistan Region, Iraq - On 27 November 2019, the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (DSRSG) and Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, Ms. Marta Ruedas, travelled to Sulaymaniyah, where she met with Dr. Haval Abubaker, Governor of Sulaymaniyah, to resolve issues affecting the delivery of humanitarian assistance to internally displaced persons and Syrian refugees.

DSRSG Ruedas later visited a hospital in Sulaymaniyah, where the World Health Organization (WHO) recently provided the emergency ward with 50 electric bed units to expand services for the community. The DSRSG also met with representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and UN agencies, funds, and programs delivering humanitarian aid and development projects in Sulaymaniyah.
