The European Union Integrated Rule of Law Mission for Iraq, EUJUST LEX-Iraq (EJL-I) concluded its last training, a four-day workshop on International cooperation to combat human trafficking, on 20 November.

A joint project with the UN Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), it gathered 23 participants including police, judges, prosecutors and other law practitioners who had previously attended EJL-I trainings on the issue. Extradition, transfer of criminal proceedings and of sentenced persons, mutual legal assistance, rogatory commissions or international requests for confiscation of assets were among the topics discussed. The highly motivated participants’ engagement was key to the success of this cooperative training venture at the Al Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad with UNODC trainers from Cairo and Vienna. Each participant received a set of useful materials from UNODC and EUJUST LEX-Iraq.
