The mobile delivery unit, which was deployed in Al-Maamoun district, will serve the population inside West Mosul, where health services have been heavily affected during the past 2 years, especially women healthcare. The mobile delivery unit is the first non-trauma primary healthcare service to be deployed into West Mosul. In addition to the mobile delivery unit, UNFPA deployed life-saving reproductive health medications.
The services provided in the mobile delivery unit are run by UNFPA’s partner Iraq Health Access Organization (IHAO), and with the support and leadership of the Ninewa Department of Health (DOH). The mobile delivery room is generously funded by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO), Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA).
UNFPA will continue to deploy its prepositioned frontline response services inside West Mosul as more districts and neighbourhoods become accessible.
