Baghdad, 23 February 2014 – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Nickolay Mladenov welcomed the announcement by Iraq’s Defense Ministry of a 72-hour halt to military operations around the city of Fallujah.

Baghdad, 22 February 2014. More than 100 Iraqi civil society leaders today joined Iraqi members of parliament and government officials as well as senior representatives from the United Nations and European Union to call for the adoption of the Charter of Cooperation between Public Authorities and Non-Governmental Organizations. 

Baghdad, 19th February 2014 – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) Mr Nickolay Mladenov, today welcomed the decisions by the Council of Ministers of Iraq concerning the Anbar Province, calling them "a positive step in addressing the security and humanitarian situation in the province".

Baghdad, 17 February 2013 – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) delivered its third shipment of lifesaving supplies and commodities on Sunday to women and children displaced by violence in Anbar Province, leading the joint humanitarian response to the crisis with UNHCR and IOM.

Baghdad, 13th February 2014 - Since the beginning of the fighting in Anbar Province over 63,000 families have been registered as internally displaced. Although many have fled to other parts of the country, including Karbala, Baghdad and Erbil provinces, others have sought safety in outlying communities in Anbar Province or are unable to flee the fighting. Their condition remains precarious with food stocks and potable water running low, poor sanitation and limited access to health care.

Dohuk, 13 February 2013; As part of its interventions to support Syrian refugees in Iraq and to facilitate access to education for children and youth living in the camps, UNESCO concluded today the first teacher training in Domiz camp in Dohuk.  This is a first step in a series of activities that will be held in the framework of UNESCO's emergency response for quality education. 

Baghdad, 11th February 2014 - The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Nickolay Mladenov, strongly condemned the attack against the convoy of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Osama Al-Nujaifi, in the city of Mosul in Ninewa Province yesterday afternoon. 

Baghdad, 6 February 2014 – While clashes in Anbar province continue and are leading to further multiple displacements, the United Nations continue, despite the difficulties, with deliveries of aid to the around 45,000 displaced families registered so far. 

Baghdad, 6 February 2014 – The Government of Iraq today launched its National Action Plan on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2014-2018), thus becoming the first country in the Middle East and North Africa Region to launch such a program.
