17 March 2021 – Baghdad: Dr. Salah El Hajj Hassan, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)Representative in Iraq, accompanied by H.E Ambassador Safia Al-Suhail, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to FAO, met with the Governor of Baghdad, Mr. Mohammed Jaber al-Atta. The discussion focused on FAO's intervention and programs in Iraq and the agriculture sector's challenges in Iraq.

Baghdad — On 17 March, following a kick-off meeting in February, the United Nations Network for Migration was formally launched in Iraq. The Network supports the international community’s efforts towards the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), which is the first inter-governmentally negotiated agreement covering all dimensions of international migration in a holistic and comprehensive manner.

Baghdad, 15 March 2021 - To mark the International Women’s Day, the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and the Free Iraq Foundation jointly hosted an interactive virtual discussion with senior Iraqi leadership, policymakers, MPs, members of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), civil society and the international community to discuss the findings and recommendations of the research undertaken in 2020 on needs and challenges facing Iraqi women entering politics.

14 March 2021 – The High Council of Women Affairs in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, in partnership with UN Women and UNFPA, renewed its commitment to the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda during the International Women’s Day celebration in Erbil.

BAGHDAD – On International School Meals Day, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) renews its commitment to support the learning and nutrition needs of children in Iraq. Under the National School Feeding Programme, WFP in partnership with the Iraqi Ministry of Education is developing a new universal School Feeding policy to support all primary school children in the country.
