BAGHDAD – The humanitarian situation of Iraqis recently displaced to the southern governorates of Najaf, Kerbala and Babel is reaching critical levels, according to an assessment by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

(Erbil, 18 December 2014): Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos has approved the allocation of nearly US$15 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to support newly displaced families in Iraq.

Baghdad 17 December 2014 – The Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (DSRSG) and Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, Dr. Jacqueline Badcock and Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the High Committee on IDPs, Dr. Saleh Al-Mutlaq today inaugurated the Joint Coordination and Monitoring Center (JCMC), a newly created and dedicated entity that will strengthen a coordinated response to the humanitarian crisis, within the Government and between the Government and the United Nations and its partners.
