11 August 2014 – Iraq has launched a polio immunization campaign aiming to protect over four million children under the age of 5 throughout the country against the crippling disease. 

Erbil, 28 June 2014 – UNICEF received one million doses of polio vaccine in Erbil on Saturday, marking the first ever occasion of such a delivery directly to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I). 

20 June 2014. Erbil, KR-I: UNICEF has procured one million doses of oral polio vaccine (OPV) for the Government of Iraq for an emergency polio campaign in the Kurdish Region.  The campaign is tentatively planned for the 29th of June to the 4th of July and will target 800,000 children in the KRG, including children of internally displaced families and people crossing checkpoints into and out of KR-I.

Baghdad, 22 May 2014 – The Iraqi Ministry of Health (MoH), with the support of World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, conducted the third round of National Immunization Days of 2014 from 13 to 17 May. These immunization activities are in response to an outbreak of polio in the Middle East which has resulted so far in two cases of polio in Iraq. The supplementary national vaccination campaign reached 5.8 million children between 0 to 5 years of age across Iraq with two drops of the oral polio vaccine (OPV), including displaced Iraqis and refugees from neighboring countries. 

Baghdad, Iraq - 14 April 2014. In collaboration with the Iraqi Ministry of Health, The World Health Organization in Iraq concluded a nationwide polio vaccination campaign, the first since a case of polio was confirmed by the Iraqi ministry of health in Baghdad on 30 March 2014 after 14 years of polio free declaration.
